- Construct a timeline, placing school, community, and/or family events in correct sequence
- Classify objects from long ago and today, looking closely at similarities, differences, patterns and change
- Collect information about the past differentiating among fact and opinion.
We started the unit by making sure everyone has the same understanding of the following vocabulary: past, history, present, modern day, and future. To "hook" the kids and get them interested, we looked at pictures from the past and tried to guess what we have in their place today. The kids did GREAT! Look below for the pictures we looked at.
This week I am hoping to make timelines of our lives, as well as do some independent research to construct a timeline of famous Americans.
