The second graders did a FANTASTIC job performing How the Grinch Stole Christmas. students made holiday presents for their families and for Mrs. Clokey and G-ma, who help us so much in our classroom! Over the past couple of days, students created their own math story problems. Today students got to "shop" around the classroom and pick which story problems they wanted to solve. The kids really learned from last time and did a much better job working as a team! Students stuck to their roles and were more helpful and patient! Today we finished the RC Cars, which are super cool! After the "Make" phase, students entered the "Play" phase, where they got to experiment , make discoveries, and make predictions as to how the RC car works. After spending some time in this phase, we moved into the "Discover" phase, where we began to learn the "inner workings" of the RC car. First we learned that the RC car moves by vibrations from the controllers. Then we learned that there is an infrared camera in the Joycon controller that also works in the dark. This camera also allows the RC car to self-drive (autopilot mode) using the infrared camera to seek out infrared stickers in its view and automatically steer itself toward them. So cool! After making these discoveries, we had to go back to the Play phase where students designed obstacle courses and navigated their cars through them. There's still even more discoveries to be made, so we can't wait until next time! |
