During the day we do a lot of brain warm-ups. These are different than a brain break in that, instead of giving our brains a break, we are warming them up. We are warming them up to push our thinking.
At the start of each math lesson, for example, we warm up our brains with some fluency practice. Then, when it comes time for me to teach the new concept (this is called concept development), I tell the students that I want them to push their thinking. Today the students worked so hard, that one student said to me with a smile, "Miss Lacharite, your fried my brain!"
I consider today another successful day! :)
